Winnipeg Empowerment and Boudoir Photography
The Evolution
of Self
Self /self/
Personal Reclamation · Body · Worthiness · Truth
The Evolution of Self is the inward journey. A return to the parts of you that were quieted, softened, or set aside while you carried everyone else.
This empowerment portrait experience draws you back into yourself, into your self expression, and into the version of you that no longer asks for permission to exist fully. Through guided boudoir and empowerment photography sessions, the focus is not on performance or posing, but on recognition that is entirely your own.
You are not becoming someone new but returning to the person beneath the calibrated versions. The one you set down at the door before walking into every room. When your body feels safe enough to unmask, that is the version I am here to see and to show you.
Shed the personas you've spent years performing.
Most people arrive here carrying the weight of expectations that accumulated so gradually they became invisible. Years of adjusting, calibrating, and showing up as whoever the room required, until the original version of you got buried somewhere underneath all of it.
My self-gaze approach is where that begins to lift. Not through performance or posing, but through the rare experience of being truly seen without agenda, without direction, and without an audience to perform for. This is photography grounded in stillness, in safety, and in the unhurried process of letting what is real rise to the surface.
Strength without spectacle.
The shift that happens here doesn't fade when you leave. It settles into your bones, changes how you carry yourself, and follows you back into every room you walk into. My clients don't just see the difference after this experience. They live it.
HOW WE EVOLVE YOUR SELF
HOW WE EVOLVE YOUR SELF
01. BEFORE THE CAMERA
This experience begins before you arrive at the studio.
-
Every session starts the same way. You sit down, and I ask you to tell me your story. What brought you here, what you're carrying, and what you're ready to set down. From that conversation we build the foundation of trust, clarity and direction that makes everything else possible.
This is not about over-planning or perfection. It is about creating a sense of safety in your body and confidence in the process so you can let go once the session begins.
You don't need to know how to pose. You don't need to know what you want to look like. You just need to arrive open to being guided.
02. DURING THE SESSION
You are never left wondering what to do or how to be.
-
Every part of the session is guided with care and attentiveness. Movement, posture, expression, and pacing are all directed in a way that feels natural and easy rather than forced or performative.
Sometimes that means stopping everything, shaking it out, having a laugh, and starting again. Because the images that stop you in your tracks are never the ones where you were thinking about how to look. They're the ones where you forgot to.
The moment your shoulders drop, the laugh comes out, and something quieter and stronger rises to the surface. That is what we are here for. The image is simply what happens when you get there.
The session unfolds at a steady pace so you can move through it as yourself rather than rush through a version of who you think you should be.
03. WHERE THE SHIFT HAPPENS
Your images are presented raw and unedited, exactly as they came from the camera. This is often where everything lands.
-
The same day reveal is one of the most distinctive parts of this experience, and it is intentional. You see yourself before the editing, before the polish, before anyone has decided what version of you to present to the world.
As we move through the images together, I walk you through each one. What I see, what I would refine, and what is already exactly right. There is space for quiet. There is space for conversation. There is no rushing.
You see yourself not as you imagine you look, but as you are when you are no longer negotiating your visibility. The comparisons. The self-doubt. The old stories about how you are supposed to look or be. For many clients those begin to lose their grip in this room, in this moment, looking at these images.
What comes forward instead is recognition.
Not because someone told you that you look good, but because you can feel the truth of it for yourself. Some clients go quiet. Some laugh. Some say "that doesn't even look like me" and mean it as the most clarifying thing they have ever seen.
That recognition is the shift this experience is built around.
04. AFTER YOU LEAVE
The impact extends far beyond the images.
-
Clients often describe returning to their lives with a different steadiness. A deeper trust in themselves. Like someone finally cleaned their glasses and the fog they had been moving through simply lifted.
You start to notice it in small ways. Walking straighter. Lifting your head to meet people's eyes. Moving through rooms differently than you did before.
The images become reminders of what that clarity feels like, something to return to on the days it gets harder to access. The real change though shows up in how you carry yourself long after you leave this studio.
You don't walk away with just photographs. You walk away having claimed something that was already yours.

If you think you’re the only one who feels selfish, conceited, even borderline narcissistic when it comes to having photos taken of you, you’re not. And when that ever common question comes up I simply say, who are you not to? You have the BEST reason to do this! YOU! Even if you do have someone in your life that might be interested in seeing your images, that’s up to you. The majority of my clients do this for themselves and it’s an added bonus if they have someone to share with. You don’t just deserve heirloom quality images of yourself when they’re for someone else. You deserve them at all times for YOU

An empowerment portrait captures your unique energy, strength, and essence—celebrating who you are today, beyond just how you look. It’s about feeling confident and owning your presence.

Well the great news is, “photogenic” is a MYTH! It is something that has been created as a result of unfortunate photographic experiences. But you know what? I find your best self and coach you in to it. I fully guide you on how to hold your head, shoulders, hands, even your expression. None of my clients are professional models and if you are loving what you’re seeing, just know you can look like that too. I am here for you every step of the way!

As a photographer this breaks my heart every time I hear it. Some of our earliest photographic experiences (hello license and passport photos) have become core memories and become “proof” that all photos are horrible. This couldn’t be further from the truth. The real truth is that when you are given space to feel empowered and like your true self, you literally light up the room. It’s that light that I strive to capture in every portrait. So I ask you, what if you LOVE every photo?

Often we hold a lot of value in our weight, myself included, and it is my mission to show you that you are more than the size of your clothes and number on your scale and you are worthy of being photographed. My work centers around my clients embracing their TRUE selves, as they are RIGHT now in this moment. I know it can be nerve wracking and damn well scary to see yourself in portrait form but this is why we go through your images TOGETHER and work through those feelings. My editing style is light as a standard, but I do adjust distracting things like rogue straps and hair.
